High Yield Equities

High Yield Domestic Equities are equity shares, issued by U.S. Corporations that are traded on the major exchanges in the United States. These shares pay high current yield as defined by quarterly dividends per share divided by current share price. Your APS Financial representative has information indicating which High Yield equities may be trading at depressed share prices yet possess good investment fundamentals that indicate the continued timely payment of dividends.

High Yield International Equities are equity shares, issued by non-U.S. Corporations. Their shares are usually traded on a major foreign exchange or on a U.S. exchange. Like High Yield domestic equities, shares pay a high current yield as defined by quarterly dividends per share divided by current share price. Other factors that may create a high yield opportunity in international equities include:

  • Continued relative weakness of the U.S. Dollar, compared to the currency of the issuing company.
  • Current economic strength in the country of the issuing company.
  • A “risk premium” needed for companies of lesser-developed nations to attract investment capital.

High Yield international equities may be an attractive addition to the investment portfolio of the investor who seeks high yields, a play on a weak dollar, and international diversification.

Investors in high-yield products should keep in mind that there is no such thing as a free lunch. The price of receiving above-average income potential is above-average risk of substantial price declines. Even though returns on high-yield securities historically have compensated the investor for the additional risk, there is no guarantee this will be true in the future.
